## YOU are the avatar

Protocol 223 is an asymmetric team-based VR hero shooter where players physically embody their avatars. No controller, no accessories: once equipped with the eXosuit, you run, jump and freely control your character with your body. Even your victory dance — that's all you.

## Total avatar embodiment

With the eXosuits, players' entire bodies become the controller, from feet to fingertips. Special avatar abilities are triggered through simple movements, and players interact naturally through verbal and body language. The result: maximum presence in the virtual world, with the ability to do things impossible in reality — like having superpowers.

## Mixed reality arena

Real and virtual walls are merged with centimeter-level precision. The virtual environment becomes tangible: by eliminating all cognitive dissonance, immersion is multiplied. Players no longer wonder if they might walk through a wall — which reassures them and removes the need for sometimes punitive anti-cheat mechanisms. Our modeling tools adapt to each venue's constraints: no need for a large obstacle-free rectangle. With optimized space partitioning, the typical area for 8 players is only 200 m².

## Free roaming

Free movement in VR eliminates motion sickness that some players experience in static VR setups. Moving naturally enhances immersion and simplifies controls — players don't have to think about how to move. It's also an effective way to differentiate from home or classic VR arcade experiences, at a time when consumer headsets have become affordable and powerful.

## Competition

Protocol 223 is a fun and intensely physical activity. Inspired by hit hero-shooters like Overwatch and Valorant, the game fosters attachment to the characters players embody. Motion capture and using the body to trigger superpowers make the experience as spectacular for spectators as it is thrilling for players. By merging traditional sport and esport into a life-sized video game, Protocol 223 builds a loyal community of players.

- **3 game modes** for 2 to 8 players
- **Full-body control** via eXosuit: your movements translate directly into in-game actions
- **Immersive arenas**: real walls merge with the VR environment
- **Competitive ranking system** with match history

## My contribution

Protocol 223 represents the technical culmination of our work at Bigger Inside. As lead developer, I designed the game architecture, the asymmetric combat system, the networking layer, VR rendering, environment design tools and the game master app. I also developed the eXosuit firmware — the motion capture equipment that turns player movements into in-game actions.
